For this project, we constructed a 6500sf pre-engineered facility to accommodate the requirements of a Central Issue Facility, including administration and point of issue/return.The building used reflective color in the warehouse area to enhance the use of natural lighting. The existing slab was used as the building site topped with new footings and slab. The building layout included five walled offices in addition to an open semi-private office designed for four staff members to use simultaneously. A break-room with sink, individual men’s and women’s handicap accessible restrooms were also built into the space. The bathrooms have hard lids and vinyl tile whereas the office areas have t-bar ceilings and exposed concrete floors.
In the warehouse area, skylights were placed within the roof sheeting with vinyl backed insulation under the roof sheeting and walls. One 16×10 roll-up door and two man doors were also installed. Evaporative cooling, natural gas radiant heaters were also installed. The lighting is drop-down warehouse style and the floor is finished, sealed concrete.
This project was performed for the US Army Corps of Engineers with the ultimate customer being the California Army National Guard at Camp Roberts, California.
This complete project from structural engineering to the final building was a creative solution to building over an existing slab from an old building.
